Herald Square

Herald Square is situated at the intersection of Broadway, Sixth Avenue (Avenue of the Americas), and 34th Street. Named after the New York Herald newspaper, whose building once stood on its northern side, the area is now dominated by the landmark Macy's department store, one of the largest in the world. The square is a frenetic shopping destination, buzzing with locals and tourists alike, and is famed for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Herald Square has retained its historical charm through the preservation of the Herald Square Monument, which pays homage to the newspaper that once defined this area's significance. The neighborhood serves as a retail hub, with a dense concentration of clothing stores, fast-food chains, and pedestrian-friendly zones making it a lively crossroads in the city.
